Sherry Social is a monthly hangout at Casa Teresa Tapas Bar where sherry takes center stage. Enjoy a rotating lineup of pours paired with Chef Ruben’s inspired tapas, including special dishes debuted exclusively for the group before hitting the regular menu. Saturday, May 16th, 2026 – Literary Cocktails / #GetLitDC returns to the bar at Baan Siam on 4th & I St. This month’s book pick is “Jade City” by Fonda Lee. JADE CITY is a gripping Godfather-esque saga of intergenerational blood feuds, vicious politics, magic, and kungfu.
The Kaul family is one of two crime syndicates that control the island of Kekon. It’s the only place in the world that produces rare magical jade, which grants those with the right training and heritage superhuman abilities. The Green Bone clans of honorable jade-wearing warriors once protected the island from foreign invasion–but nowadays, in a bustling post-war metropolis full of fast cars and foreign money, Green Bone families like the Kauls are primarily involved in commerce, construction, and the everyday upkeep of the districts under their protection. When the simmering tension between the Kauls and their greatest rivals erupts into open violence in the streets, the outcome of this clan war will determine the fate of all Green Bones and the future of Kekon itself.

Sunday, May 17th, 2026 from 3:00pm – 4:00pm – Agatha Christie Sherry Book Club returns to Baan Siam (425 I Street NW) to sip sherry, tea, snack on kanom krok and chat all things mystery by the legend commonly referred to as Agatha Christie. Co-led by Hannah Oliver-Depp (owner of Loyalty Bookstores) and myself, we also recently designed official mugs and stickers for folks! You can purchase them via Loyalty Bookstores. Soon after Gwenda moved into her new home, odd things started to happen. Despite her best efforts to modernize the house, she only succeeded in dredging up its past. Worse, she felt an irrational sense of terror every time she climbed the stairs. In fear, Gwenda turned to Miss Marple to exorcise her ghosts. Between them, they were to solve a “perfect” crime committed many years before.
